Projects

This page is IN PROGRESS. I'm not sure when I'm going to get around to finishing it, but just pretend that it looks way cooler than it does right now.

CTRL + SHIFT

Solo Project

Released on Itchio

This is a game that I made for the GMTK Game Jam 2023. It's probably my favourite of the jam games on this list, mostly because I not only made all of the art for it, but also find the gimmick fun. Linked Life was a game I made for GMTK 2022, and while I do really like the gameplay, I didn't make the art so I prefer CTRL + SHIFT.

I spent like 5ive hours on this.

Solo Project

Released on Itchio

Made for the GMTK Game Jam 2024, I honestly like this game, even though I only spent roughly 5 hours on it. It's a puzzle platformer where you can pick up orbs that will let you grow bigger or smaller. The challenge is using your tools to find a way to get to the goal. I'll admit that the game isn't that good, however it's a small game that I enjoyed making, and for the time I spent I think it's good. The design of the levels could probably be vastly improved, and background art definitely was rushed. Either way, it was a good learning opportunity and I was able to make it under stress.

Cats Knocking Things off Shelves

Programmer + Designer

Released on the Global Game Jam website

Ahh, here we get to this one. It's a puzzle game that I made during Global Game Jam 2024. I was helping run the site that I was making it at, so I didn't have the most amount of time. I worked with two others, one who was helping design and do art, and the other was a floater who helped many teams with audio.

Team Roles (usernames taken from the GGJ site):

  • Me - Programming + Design.
  • JTagsTarpey - Art + Design.
  • PowerUser64 - Audio.

CHAIRS - The Rat Zone

QA Testing + ???

Released on Itchio + Steam

Released by The Rat Zone, CHAIRS is a 'singleplayer' game where you do average chair things, like collect Prisms of Perplexitude, and help consume dimensions. You know, standard things for your chair to do when not being observed. I helped with the game. If you want to know where I am credited. First beat the game with Story Mode enabled, and then remember that I sometimes go by the nickname 'Vim'.

Linked Life

Solo Project

Released on Itchio

Linked Life was made for the GMTK Game Jam 2021. It's my first game jam game that I actually like and I think still relatively holds up. I used art assets from Kenney.nl and audio assets from the Wowie Resource Pack by Jonas Tyroller. It's a relativey simple game where the more health you have, the slower you are. And also, the first time you hit an enemy, the amount of health you have is their health. That means that if you hit an enemy for the first time when you have one health, they instantly die. When you hit an enemy for the first time when they have 5 health, they would have 4 health remaining.

If I were to redo an element of the game, I'd say that instead of setting the enemy's health to whatever health the player was at when they first hit the enemy, I'd change it to make all enemies have a consistant amount of health (5). However, the player would deal (6 - X) damage, X being the player's current health. That way, the player still would kill an enemy in 1 shot if they had only one health remaining, but it would also be simpler for the player to understand.
